He was a border collie that could jump the fence flat footed. Everytime he got out, which was often, we had to pick him up at the dog pound. So, what was his name??? Anybody. Also, did we get him before or after Max?

Texas Registered Professional Engineer

After you get your engineering degree and some credible experience, the state of Texas requires you be become registered and certified as a Professional Engineer. Along with a certificate you get a seal that you stamp your engineering work to make yourself liable for the quality of the work. Oh yeah, you have to pay for it after your have prepared a couple of years for it and passed rigorous examinations.

My Older Brother Jim

My older brother was more than five years older than me. He graduated from Delhi High School in 1941 and completed two years at NJC of LSU in Monroe in 1943. He played played both offense and defense. He was the most "driven" person that I ever knew. Winning was everything. He also boxed in high school. In 1943, he joined the US Army Air Corps as an aviation cadet. After getting his wings and a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant, he was deployed to the Mediteranian Theater of operations in Europe where he flew 111 combat missions in a P-47D fighter bomber. He was assigned to the 86th Fighter-Bomber Group, 527th Fighter -Bomber Squadron. He got out of the USAF in 1949 as a Major, wearing senior pilot wings. He joined me at LSU. I was a Senior and he was a Junior. That was fun. He got his BS degree in Electrical Engineering in 1952 and went to work for IT&T Gilfillan Brothers. He installed ground-control radar systems at most of the USAF bases in Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. I was always very proud of Jim. He said that the P-47D was the best fighter aircraft of World War II. I tend to agree with him.

My Eagle Scout Award

About 63 years ago (c. 1945-46) I was awarded the highest rank awarded in the Boy Scouts of America, the "Eagle" rank. I just wanted to rethink about that time in my life and share it with you. I am very proud of that accomplishment and I think that the process of achieving it probably made me a little bit better person than I would have been otherwise. Some years ago, my family gave me a small placard stand that shows the Eagle medal engraved with my name and Troop 57. That is the main reason that I have always been interested in the boys being involved with the scouting program. I just felt like sharing that with you.
