I thought that I made it clear that I didn't want to make a big fuss about my birthday this year, just because I will be 8 decades old. But no, look at the number of birthday cards that I have received so far. I will probably get a few more tomorrow. how many trees have been sacrificed just to send me these cards. Think green. (I haven't found any green in any of these yet.) So, I guess everybody meant well, so THANK YOU ALL. Happy Birthday to Me.

Hibiscus LB (Lord Baltimore)
Lee gave me a single Hibiscus plant different from the Tropical Hibiscus plants. It is a Lord Baltimore. So far, it has bloomed twice since we got back from Tennessee. The red bloom is 7 inches across compared with 5 inches for the Tropical H. I knew that it was supposed to bloom late in the summer or early autumn, but I was still surprised when it did bloom. I had not even noticed the pod prior to the blooming. Anyway, it is pretty and is a nice variation from the Tropical plants. I have moved it into a larger pot but still have not decided where I will put it in the ground if anywhere. I may just keep it in a pot.

Tennessee Trip
We made the trip to TN on 11 - 15 August and had a good visit with Steven, Jenny, Logan, and Lily. We also spent a little while with Kelly. We had a good visit. We worked in the greenhouse a little. We set the water out for a half hour for one section of the green house. Steve selected three varieties of Agave plants for us to bring back to Texas. They are more tolerant of warn and hot weather than the Hostas are. We will have to try them. We already have a Red Yucca plant by the driveway.

National Museum of the Boy Scouts of America
Henry and Max (and their Moms ) and I went to the National Museum of the Boy Scouts of America for the second year. We had fun. We also ate hamburgers and ice cream at Braums.
